Temporary Business Continuity Manager at global corporate office (Feb-August 2025)

Our client, located in Midtown Manhattan, is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Business Continuity Manager to develop, implement, and maintain business continuity and disaster recovery plans across the organization. This individual will play a critical role in ensuring operational resilience, minimizing risks, and supporting a proactive approach to business disruptions. The ideal candidate will collaborate with cross-functional teams, assess risks, and lead initiatives to prepare for and mitigate the impact of potential emergencies.

Responsibilities:

  1. Business Continuity Planning:

    • Develop and implement comprehensive business continuity and disaster recovery plans for all business units.
    • Identify critical business processes and ensure contingency plans are in place to minimize disruption.
  2. Risk Assessment and Mitigation:

    • Conduct regular risk assessments to identify vulnerabilities and potential threats.
    • Collaborate with stakeholders to develop strategies for risk mitigation and ensure alignment with organizational goals.
  3. Training and Awareness:

    • Design and deliver training programs to increase awareness of business continuity practices among employees.
    • Conduct regular testing, drills, and exercises to ensure preparedness.
  4. Incident Management:

    • Serve as the primary point of contact during disruptions, coordinating the organization’s response to ensure a timely recovery.
    • Evaluate incident reports and analyze outcomes to improve future response plans.
  5. Compliance and Reporting:

    • Ensure business continuity plans comply with relevant regulations, standards, and best practices.
    • Prepare detailed reports for senior management on program effectiveness, test results, and areas for improvement.
  6. Collaboration and Communication:

    • Work closely with IT, HR, facilities, and other departments to ensure alignment and integration of continuity plans.
    • Maintain relationships with external partners, including vendors and regulatory agencies, to ensure coordinated responses during crises.
 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in business continuity planning, risk management, or related fields.
  • Certification in business continuity (e.g., CBCP, MBCI) or equivalent is highly preferred.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to assess risks and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Excellent project management and organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels.
  • Familiarity with business continuity software and tools.
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements and industry standards (e.g., ISO 22301, NFPA 1600)

HOURS:
9am-6pm with flexibility for OT as needed
5x a week in office

SALARY:
Hourly rate commensurate with a $130-160K base
