People Operations Manager at Tech Start Up

Our client, a tech start up, is looking for a dynamic and detail-oriented temp to perm People Operations Manager to support their growing team of ~50 people. This is a high-impact, hands-on role that spans employee experience, recruiting coordination, payroll support, and workplace operations. You’ll be the connective tissue between our people and their internal systems, ensuring a seamless, welcoming, and organized experience for employees — from first day to farewell. This role is hybrid in office 3x a week (Tuesday to Thursday) and WFH 2x a week. We’re excited to find someone who brings structure, warmth, and operational excellence to our client’s firm.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Employee Experience
  • Coordinate company happy hours, events, and team celebrations
  • Manage gifting for birthdays, anniversaries, and other milestones

Recruiting, Onboarding & Offboarding
  • Support recruiting coordination, scheduling, and reporting (via Greenhouse)
  • Own onboarding/offboarding logistics, checklists, and communication

Payroll & Commissions
  • Support payroll processing and sales commission tracking (Sequoia PEO)
  • Liaise with Finance/Accounting for accurate monthly submissions

Performance Management
  • Manage performance review cycles using Lattice
  • Support managers and employees with performance process logistics

Reporting
  • Deliver quarterly HR/People updates to the leadership team
  • Maintain documentation and tracking through our HRIS (Sequoia)

Team Management (TBD)
  • Potentially manage a junior-level coordinator (5–10 hours/week)

Workplace Experience
  • Order groceries, office supplies, and manage IT equipment logistics
  • Own vendor relationships for cleaners, recycling/trash, handyman, IT, etc.

REQUIREMENTS:
  • Tech-savvy with tools like GSuite, Slack, Zoom
  • Reliable, organized, detail-oriented, and self-directed
  • Coachable, fast learner, and a strong listener
  • Positive, energetic, and respectful team player
  • 5+ years in people operations or HR roles
  • Experience in startups or tech environments (~50-person company size)
  • Familiar with Sequoia, Greenhouse, and Lattice (or similar systems)
  • Comfortable managing or mentoring a junior teammate
  • Previous experience balancing people ops and office ops responsibilities

HOURS:
9am to 5:30pm + flex for OT

SALARY:
Hourly (DOE) + benefits and bonus (once converted)
